NOVATO, Marin County — November 4, 2026. Novato voters selected City Council representatives in two districts, and preliminary reports show very different margins. Rachel Farac was well ahead in District 2, while District 4 remained closer between Pat Eklund and Dan Christian.
District 2
At 11:13 p.m. November 3, KQED’s county results showed Rachel Farac with 1,439 votes (64.7%), Mike Little with 514 (23.1%) and Bob Rasmussen with 270 (12.1%). The listed shares are of reported votes in District 2, not citywide voter support.
District 4
Pat Eklund led with 986 votes (43.9%), followed by Dan Christian with 893 (39.7%) and Chris Carpiniello with 294 (13.1%). The margin between the two leaders was only 93 votes; a fourth candidate, Luiggino Galletto, also appeared in the race. In an incomplete count, the separation requires caution.
Why two districts have different counts
These are separate district elections, not a single mayoral race. Residents of one district do not necessarily vote on candidates from the other. Council representatives participate in municipal decisions affecting neighborhood planning, housing, streets, parks and public services.
The early figures cannot establish final winners. Additional legal ballots will be counted after election night and certified only after completion of the canvass.
Reporting note: Vote totals are from KQED’s Marin County results display updated November 3, 2026 at 11:13 p.m. Pacific, based on election-office data. They are unofficial and will change as valid ballots are processed. Marin County’s Elections Department has scheduled new reports beginning November 5.
